In the third round of Champions League group game fixtures last night, Liverpool travelled to Spain to face Atletico Madrid, managing to sneak away with a 3-2 win in a game filled with drama.
After scoring two great goals, Antonione Griezmann was sent off for Atletico Madrid following a tackle on Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.
The tackle, as you can see above, saw Griezmann kick Firmino right in the head, with some suggesting that the tackle was something you’d be more likely to see in a WWE ring.
Fans on social media have even started sharing clips of former WWE Superstar Test hitting his signature Big Boot finishing move, which many have jokingly suggested was similar to Griezmann’s tackle.
The comparisons with Griezmann’s tackle and WWE moves haven’t stopped there, as fans have also started comparing the horror challenge to Sheamus’ Brogue Kick.
WWE star Sheamus, who is a rather outspoken Liverpool fan, delivers a high kick as his finishing move, which many people have suggested was similar to Griezmann’s challenge last night.
Sheamus hasn’t responded to the comparisons yet, but has liked a few tweets from fans that have pointed out that Griezmann’s challenge was similar to his WWE finishing move.
