Neymar believes that Barcelona are the best team in the world, as Santos prepare to take on the Catalan giants a the Club World Cup in December.

Neymar is a reported transfer target for Barcelona, as well as the side’s bitter rivals Real Madrid, and the Brazilian is said to be attracting fees of up to £50 million as the January transfer window draws near.

And while the 19-year-old insists he is happy in Brazil and wants to continue to ply his trade with his first professional club before making the move overseas, Neymar has revealed he thinks no club in the world is as high as Barcelona.

"Santos are preparing for the last match of the year, which will be the match of our lives," he told reporters of the match up with the Catalan side. "We will improve our playing pace.

"Right now, Barca are the best team in the world, but if that will make them win or not, it will be seen on the field of play."

Neymar partnering Lionel Messi at Barcelona is a thought to leave defences quaking in their boots, particularly with Messi looking set to break Cesar Rodriguez’s record of 235 goals at the club.

Messi told reporters today: "I want to break Rodriguez's record, but only because I want to score as many goals as possible for Barcelona.

“It's good for the team when I score and I want to win trophies. I don't care about entering the record books.

"I don't necessarily want to break the record this season. If it happens, I'm fine with it, but I won't lose any sleep over it if I don't break the record.”

Barcelona are currently second on La Liga table, three points adrift of Real Madrid.
