Max Verstappen has been named the most popular Formula 1 driver in a recent survey shared by the Daily Mail, with Lando Norris in second and Lewis Hamilton in third.

A great deal of F1's appeal stems from its stars and characters; the people that make the sport what it is and that generate brilliant storylines and high octane drama.

Indeed, we've certainly had plenty of that this year with Verstappen and Hamilton going head-to-head for the title, whilst Norris has enjoyed a superb campaign for McLaren and is also a regular presence on social media, which has clearly resonated with younger fans of the sport.

That all said, a recent survey as part of the official Global F1 Fan Survey sought to find out which star on the current grid was the most popular with supporters and it's this trio that ranked ahead of the rest of the field, though it's the hard-charging Dutchman that currently leads the pack.

Looking to win his first-ever world title and possessing talent that we perhaps haven't seen since Lewis burst onto the scene, Max looks set to be the next huge, global star in the sport - though the likes of Lando Norris as well as George Russell, Charles Leclerc and others will be eager to take the fight to him in the future too.

Indeed, it's those talents that appear to have resonated with fans around the world, whilst Norris regularly comes across as a likeable, affable young person that also has ferocious speed and talent behind the wheel.

As the reigning champ and a serial record breaker, Hamilton is certainly not without his own huge fanbase and he'll be eager to give them something massive to celebrate at the end of this season, as he looks for an unparalleled eighth world title.
