Manchester City midfielder David Silva is in the form of his life in the Barclays Premier League, according to international teammate Pepe Reina.

The Liverpool stopper has watched from afar as Silva has dazzled in the top-flight, spearheading City's challenge at the top of the league.

And Reina, himself having show his best form in England since his move to Anfield in 2005, says Silva is one of the best Spaniards to grace the division.

“Playing in England has certainly helped him. It has made him a regular starter for Spain," he said.

“He’s up there with the best in the Premier League. He has improved since he came to England, just like Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres did when they joined us at Liverpool and just like Juan Mata will do at Chelsea.

“It helps you become a better player playing in a different league.”

Reina added: “We have found a great generation of players the same age.

“These players know how to win because they have won at a lower level before stepping up to the seniors."

Even at this early stage of the season many are tipping Silva to dominate the player of the season awards at the end of the term, given his superb performances from Roberto Mancini's side.
