The controversial boxing career of social media superstar Jake Paul is set to continue in December, but not as we've seen it before.

In each of his four previous outings, the unbeaten 24-year-old has taken on opponents who were making their professional boxing debuts. That will change on December 18 when Paul meets fierce rival Tommy Fury in Miami.

Perhaps best known in the UK for his 2019 stint on the reality TV show Love Island, 22-year-old Fury is significantly more experienced than Paul's prior adversaries, with a perfect seven-fight record to his name. Of course, Tommy's other claim to fame is being the younger brother of reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

That family tie is what first brought Tommy on to the radar of the 'Problem Child' - and the pair have been exchanging barbs on social media ever since. Their war of words is now set to become physical as they step into the ring to settle their differences.

While the bout has yet to be officially announced, Paul has already begun his training camp for the grudge match in Puerto Rico - and has enlisted the help of a man who is well-known to the Fury family.

Jake Paul brings in former Tyson Fury opponent to help him prepare for Tommy Fury bout

Former two-time world cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham was Tyson Fury's opponent when he made his United States debut back in April 2013. What was supposed to be a showcase for 'The Gypsy King' very nearly turned into a nightmare when Cunningham shockingly floored the Brit.

Tyson did recover to record a seventh-round stoppage victory over the American, but the unbeaten heavyweight would later admit that it was one of the hardest nights of his career.

Now, according to a report by The Mirror, Cunningham is back to once again try and foil the Fury family, assisting Jake Paul in his attempt to upset Tommy Fury.

On Wednesday, Cunningham was pictured alongside Paul's assistant coach J'Leon Love in an Instagram story, together a caption thanking him for his efforts in sparring.

As early in their careers as both Jake Paul and Tommy Fury are, it seems they have plenty of experience around them as they prepare for their much-anticipated showdown. It might not be the most technically brilliant fight the world has ever seen but should still make for a fascinating spectacle.

Tyson Fury has previously insisted he would demand that Tommy change his name if he were to lose the bout. Team Paul - and Steve Cunningham - look intent on doing all they can to make that a reality.
