AC Milan have reportedly made the first move in pursuit of Liverpool target Lucas.
The Sao Paulo midfielder is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Brazil and is seemingly set to leave the Morumbi in the not too distant future.
Liverpool have been frequently linked with the 19-year-old in recent months, and a formal attempt to bring Lucas to Anfield has been mooted in the press.
However, according to talkSPORT, Milan are leading Liverpool in the race for the Brazilian after making contact with his representatives.
The Serie A side's technical director Marco Branco is said to have met with Lucas' agent Juan Figer to discuss a proposed move to the San Siro.
Whether or not this hastens Liverpool into an approach of their own remains to be seen, but Kenny Dalglish is understood to be already making plans for the January transfer window.
The Reds boss is also reported to be Portuguese defender Bruno Alves, while a shock bid for Barcelona star David Villa has also been suggested.
