The Sun's Tom Barclay feels Southampton striker Adam Armstrong is struggling at the moment due to a lack of service.

Hasenhuttl arrived on the South Coast in August for £15m, but has failed to fire at St Mary's so far.

What's the latest news involving Armstrong?

Having netted 28 Championship goals for Blackburn Rovers last term, big things were expected of Armstrong in the top-flight.

He made the perfect start on his Southampton debut, scoring against Everton on the opening day of the season.

The 24-year-old has not found the net since then, though, and he was dropped from the starting line-up for the first time in the Premier League last weekend by Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The Saints went on to win that match 1-0 against Leeds United, with Armstrong not even making it off the bench.

What has Barclay said about Armstrong?

Armstrong stands at just 5 foot 7 inches tall, but Barclay does not believe that the forward is having issues with holding the ball up and bringing others into play. He has instead put Armstrong's problems down to having to feed off scraps.

Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s been tricky for Adam Armstrong so far. He’s obviously more of a diminutive figure in terms of stature. But I don’t know if that’s really been the problem as much, that lack of being able to hold the ball up. It’s more just Southampton struggling to create chances.”

Will Armstrong return to the starting XI against Burnley?

Southampton will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when they take on Burnley tomorrow, and it would not be surprising to see Armstrong left out of the side once more.

Barclay does not seem to think Armstrong has done a lot wrong, and has instead blamed Southampton's lack of creativity in the final third for their shortage of goals this season.

However, Armstrong's replacement last weekend, Armando Broja, did make the most of his opportunity as he scored the winner against Marcelo Bielsa's men. Following his showing in that game, it would be harsh for Hasenhuttl to drop him in favour of Armstrong.

Still, Armstrong will at least hope to come on as a substitute this time around. If this is the case, he could deliver an eye-catching cameo display, and this may remind Hasenhuttl of his qualities, putting himself in line for a recall in the near future.
