Nate Diaz slapped Khabib Nurmagomedov for making fun of him

Nate Diaz revealed how he once ‘slapped’ Khabib Nurmagomedov for making fun of him while attending the World Series of Fighting in 2015.

A video, which was uploaded by UFC in Depth, shows the Stockton native squaring up to The Eagle’s manager Ali Abdelaziz before an argument ensued.

His brother Nick Diaz can be seen standing nearby drinking from a beer bottle before throwing the rest of it at Khabib and his entourage – which led to the two brothers receiving a lifetime ban from all the events due to their misconduct.

But Nate claimed it was actually he who landed the final blow of the night, not his older brother, although he blames Khabib for inciting the mass brawl.

He told ESPN in 2019: “I’m not into this bully s—, he’s [Khabib] into bullying and stuff, that’s his thing.

“When I ran into him and his team at the World Series, I was standing there watching Jake [Shields], my friend, fight. And they took a group picture with me behind them, just to laugh at me, make fun of me.

“[Khabib] is like, ‘Ah, come on, man’ and they’re all laughing, 12 Russian dudes. I slapped him in his face for making fun of me and I’m like, ‘What?’ And he didn’t do nothing.”

Diaz and Nurmagomedov seemed destined to fight several times over the years but the fight never happened for various reasons before the latter retired last year.

He added: “I was outside furious. So I waited for him to come out there and I went to get him again and he ran off.

“I shouldn’t have done that. It was reckless, it was stupid. I was mad, but he was picking on me. So now he’s trying to act like ‘Mr Make It Right’. ‘I’m Mr Good, this guy’s a piece of s—, I don’t need this trash talk’.

“Whatever, you were going to pick on me…trying to act like the victim, that Conor [McGregor] was picking on him.”
