Erling Haaland is undoubtedly the top young striker in all of world football. Naturally, this means that the 21-year-old is also one of the most sought-after players in the game.

Since joining current club Borussia Dortmund less than two years ago, the prolific Norwegian has notched a staggering 70 goals in 69 games. He wasn't bad for his previous employer, Red Bull Salzburg, either - grabbing 29 goals in 27 appearances for the Austrian outfit.

With those sorts of numbers behind him, it's no surprise that some of Europe's biggest clubs are keeping very close tabs on Haaland, spurred on by the knowledge that the player has a £75 million release clause in his contract at Signal Iduna Park that becomes active at the end of this season.

By modern-day standards, that £75m is an absolute snip for a talent like Haaland.

However, a source for ESPN has revealed that the transfer fee payable to Dortmund is likely to only be the beginning of a massive financial package that will be required to secure the striker's services next summer.

The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all believed to be keen on signing Haaland, but have reportedly been warned that he expects a salary of £30m a year - putting him on in excess of £500,000 per week.

The Ballon d'Or nominee is a client of notorious super-agent Mino Raiola, who is also thought to want a substantial lump-sum payment for brokering any deal.

Haaland already has ties to both Manchester clubs. He was handed his professional debut at Molde by current United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, while his father Alf-Inge represented City during his own career.

Despite those factors, neither Chelsea or Real Madrid consider themselves out of contention at this point.

Of course, the fierce competition to capture Haaland means that the figures quoted could rise even further. While his exceptional talent surely justifies such a heavy outlay, Financial Fair Play implications will be a key consideration for all suitors.

With that said, there is always the possibility that Haaland will choose to remain a Borussia Dortmund player. A fascinating summer lies ahead when it comes to the future of one of Europe's top talents.
