Journalist Tom Barclay believes Conor Gallagher is getting better and better under Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace.

Not for the first time this season, the midfielder was one of Palace's standout performers on Monday night as they earned a 2-2 draw away at Arsenal.

What were Gallagher's stats against Arsenal?

Heading into Monday's clash, Gallagher had already registered two goals and an assist in his six league appearances, plus he had won two penalties for the Eagles.

He was not directly involved in either of Palace's goals at the Emirates, but he did still make a significant impact.

As per WhoScored, he attempted more shots (3) than any of his teammates, and managed to get two of them on target, while he also did well from a defensive perspective, winning four tackles.

He started the move for Palace's second goal by winning the ball back from Albert Sambi Lokonga, and can consider himself unfortunate to not end up on the winning side, as Arsenal snatched a late equaliser.

What has Barclay said about Gallagher?

The 6 foot central midfielder has plenty of admirers in the game after his early season form, including former Manchester United captain Roy Keane.

Barclay has also praised Gallagher for the well-rounded skillset he has shown at Selhurst Park this term.

Speaking about Gallagher, he told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m such a huge fan. He drives from midfield, just impresses and improves every week. He creates chances in a number of ways. Not only just shots and passes, but the way he takes these positive runs into the box as we saw for that penalty against Brighton that he won.

“He creates space for other players, he causes panic amongst other defences, and that can lead to lots of chances.”

Will Gallagher shine against Newcastle?

There have been some positive signs under Vieira this season, but Palace have still only managed to pick up one win from their eight games to date, having been held to five top-flight draws.

Later today, they will host a struggling Newcastle side, who are looking for their first league win of the campaign. The Magpies have recently been taken over by new owners, and are set to spend big in January to stave off the threat of relegation.

One player who has been linked with a move to St James' Park is Gallagher. If he performs like he did against Arsenal, the Chelsea loanee, who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, is likely to cause Newcastle plenty of issues, and this may put him in the shop window for a move to the North-East either in January or next summer.

Palace will be desperate to keep hold of him, though, as he is quickly becoming a fans' favourite in south London.
