The next-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 have been long-awaited from fans of the controversial game, but when are they being released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?
Patches have been made available for the game over the past few months to try and fix the issues that have plagued the game since its launch.
Here's everything we know about the next-gen upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The upgrades for the latest consoles have now been delayed until Q1 in 2022, as confirmed by CD Projekt Red. Plans for The Witcher 3 to be brought updated to the next-gen have also been pushed back.
They said: "We have an important update regarding next-generation updates of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for consoles and PC.
"Based on recommendations supplied by teams supervising the development of both games, we decided to postpone their releases until 2022.
"Our current target for Cyberpunk 2077 is the first quarter of 2022, and the second quarter of 2022 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."
When Are The Next-Gen Versions Coming?
Unfortunately, this is just another stumbling block in the turbulent history of the Cyberpunk franchise, following the huge news of the botched release and gameplay bugs that were enough to turn away even the most excited and expectant players for the game.
There's still a huge opportunity for CD Projekt Red to turn around the issues that have been prevalent since the launch of the game, with the likes of No Man's Sky proving that player bases are willing to hold out for updates and for a game to be patched to the level it was expected to be at launch.
Having said that, the expectation for Cyberpunk has been huge since day 1 of the game being announced, and this will surely be going down as one of the biggest missteps in the history of console and PC gaming when it comes to the release of a AAA franchise.
