Mike Tyson has unveiled a statue of himself recently erected at Resorts World in Las Vegas, honouring his incredible boxing career.

Tyson was a polarizing figure in the world of boxing, but no matter your personal views on the man, his dazzling career speaks for itself.

Tyson overtook the great Muhammad Ali to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history at just 20 years old in 1986.

He would go on to have one of the most incredible careers in boxing history, before retiring after an unbelievable 30 years in the ring in 2005.

Mike won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, with 12 of those knockouts coming inside the first round.

If knocking Ali off the podium of being the world's youngest heavyweight champion wasn't enough, he became the first heavyweight boxer in history to simultaneously hold the WBC, WBA and IBF titles.

Even after a quick glance at his career, it's easy to understand why people felt Tyson was deserving of a statue in Sin City, however, the statue unveiled by Mike has got a lot of fans talking for the wrong reasons.

Although the statue has included Tyson's famous tribal face tattoo, unfortunately, the sculptor hasn't got much else right.

Fans on Twitter were quick to mock the statue, stating that it looks "nothing like him", with one fan even going as far as to compare it to the awful statue of Cristiano Ronaldo that was unveiled at Madeira airport in 2017.

Mike however appeared to be able to look past the statue itself and was happy at least with the gesture from the restaurateur responsible for the sculpture.

He said: "I knew Richie ever since my teenage years in New York City and we always been close and I’m a little overwhelmed. I’m pretty humbled right now.”

So at least there was one person who was impressed with the statue, and it was probably the one who mattered most to the artist.
