Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has commented after Tim Melia of Sporting KC somehow escaped a red card for a challenge that looked like it was straight out of the WWE.

In the Sporting KC v Seattle Sounders game in the MLS yesterday, Sporting's goalkeeper Tim Melia shocked fans with a bizarre challenge, taking down Cristian Roldan with a slam that Vince McMahon would have been proud of.

Showing no intent of getting the ball, Melia slammed his opponent to the ground inside his own penalty box.

Perhaps even more shocking than the challenge itself was the fact that Melia was only awarded a yellow card, something that even the commentators couldn't hide their surprise at.

The clip has been doing the rounds on social media over the last few hours, so much so that it caught the attention of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

The former WWE Champion and Hollywood megastar likened Melia's tackle to his iconic 'Rock Bottom' finishing move that he used during his time in professional wrestling.

Wanting to see a WWE match unfold, The Rock said that he suspects that Cristian Roldan got straight back up and fought back, which he unsurprisingly didn't.

The Rock was seemingly also surprised that Melia escaped without a red card, with the 49-year-old saying that he suspects the keeper got a "card delivered in the red color palette" for the challenge.

The Rock has been in the news lately, with a planned return to WWE that was slated to take place next month being postponed until next year.

The Rock was slated to have a match at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022 with Roman Reigns, but reports suggest that match will now happen in April 2023.
