El Clasico: Real Madrid's David Alaba opened the scoring vs Barcelona in style

What a goal by David Alaba!

David Alaba’s first goal for Real Madrid is one he’ll never, ever forget.

The Austrian defender started in his first El Clasico on Sunday afternoon and he opened the scoring in the first half at Camp Nou.

Alaba was part of a sweeping counterattack after Barcelona‘s Memphis Depay lost the ball cheaply, with Vinicius Junior finding the former Bayern Munich man free in the final third.

The versatile defender then produced a stunning shot with his left peg that flew past a helpless Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the home side’s goal.

You don’t save those! Real Madrid went on to win Sunday’s El Clasico 2-1, with Lucas Vazquez and Sergio Aguero both scoring for their respective sides in stoppage-time.

All in all, it was a great day for Los Blancos fans and Alaba’s opener was yet more proof that he’s been a magnificent piece of business by Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The Austrian joined Los Blancos in the summer on a free transfer after a trophy-laden spell in Germany with Bayern.

Alaba won 10 Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal trophies and two Champions Leagues during his 11-year spell with the Bavarian outfit.

He also netted 33 goals for the club in 431 appearances, which is a pretty decent return for a defender.
