Orlando City striker Daryl Dike is "very high" on West Bromwich Albion head coach Valerien Ismael's list of targets ahead of the transfer window reopening in January, according to Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

The 21-year-old has made a stunning start to his career, having already notched more than 20 goals in less than 60 club appearances.

What's the latest news involving Dike?

Ismael was appointed as West Brom's new boss in June and he quickly looked to bolster his squad during the transfer window.

Dike was understood to be on Albion's radar having worked under Ismael during a loan spell with Barnsley last season.

The United States international, who has found the back of the net three times in eight outings for his country, joined Barnsley on loan in February and went on to score nine goals in 22 appearances for the Baggies' Championship rivals.

His fine form at Oakwell led to Yorkshire neighbours Leeds United mulling over whether to make a move to take him into the Premier League days before the transfer window slammed shut at the end of August.

Although a move failed to materialise, Dike has continued to impress following his return to Orlando City and is regularly getting his name on the scoresheet, with his capabilities in the final third being a key reason for the Florida side being in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference play-off places.

What has Luke Hatfield said about Dike?

Hatfield has alleged Dike remains on West Brom's radar and Ismael is keen to be reunited with the frontman.

The journalist believes Dike would prove to be a success at the Hawthorns if Albion can negotiate a deal with his current employers.

Hatfield told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure he's a player who is very, very high on their list.

"There were links with him almost endlessly over the summer and his form for Orlando has been very good.

"He's got a really good goalscoring record in the MLS. No disrespect to the league, but it is maybe a couple of steps below the level that Albion are playing at or hope to play at in the Premier League.

"He's clearly a player who's got real talent."

How much potential does Dike have?

Dike is rated highly in his homeland, with him coming second in a list of the MLS' most exciting stars under the age of 22.

Orlando City captain Nani, who made 230 appearances for Manchester United earlier in his career, has also backed Dike to take his career to another level.

Former Barnsley team-mate Jordan Williams even went as far as to compare Dike to Romelu Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for £97.5million two months ago.
