Lionel Messi was chased by a Marseille fan while playing for Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening.

The little Argentine was featuring in his first 'Le Classique' since moving to France from Barcelona in the summer.

Messi played the full 90 minutes of the match in the Stade Velodrome and towards the end of proceedings, a supporter entered the pitch and sprinted towards the superstar.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner was in a threatening attacking position when the fan reached him, but obviously had to bring a halt to play immediately once he realised what was going on.

That is ridiculous.

Marseille will likely face punishment for the actions of some of their fans during the match against PSG.

As well as the man chasing down Messi, other supporters threw projectiles at the opposing team's players when they were attempting to take a corner.

The latest instalment of 'Le Classique' finished 0-0, a result Mauricio Pochettino will likely be quite happy with after his side were reduced to 10 men early in the second half.

Right-back Achraf Hakimi was deservedly dismissed from the field of play for a last-man foul.

Marseille had chances to win the game after that incident, but Dimitri Payet and his teammates just couldn't find a way past Keylor Navas in the PSG goal.

The 0-0 draw means the Parisian outfit are seven points clear of Lens at the top of the Ligue 1 table, while Marseille sit in fourth.
