The Londoners whacked a hapless Norwich City for seven at Stamford Bridge as the league leaders sent a ruthless shiver running right down the spine of the league.
A hat-trick from Mason Mount, coupled with goals from full-back duo Reece James and Ben Chilwell and an additional strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi, saw the Blues rocket to one of their most comfortable wins ever.
The Canaries looked woefully out of their depth and never so much as troubled the Chelsea goal, instead spending most of their time picking the ball out of their own net.
Unsurprisingly, what with consolidating their spot at the top of the league and goals galore, it became somewhat of a party atmosphere at Chelsea’s west London home.
However, if you were of the Norwich persuasion, the brutal battering at the Bridge became a very ugly watch very quickly.
As if seven goals wasn’t enough of a humiliation, there were other moments in which Chelsea’s band of superstars asserted their dominance.
Hakim Ziyech’s naughty piece of skill
One moment in particular, caught on camera by a jovial fan, showed just how much of a day out it had become for Chelsea.
In the footage, Hakim Ziyech is seen toying with a Norwich defender, sending him this way and that before subtly applying the killer blow with a naughty touch.
As the defender in that situation, you just want the ground to swallow you whole. Among Chelsea fans however, the clip seems to be very popular and it is not hard to see why.
Saturday afternoon’s mauling meant that Chelsea were guaranteed to end the weekend atop the Premier League but it certainly looks like it’s going to be an almighty battle in the title race.
Liverpool’s brutal response
That is because further north on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool had a party of their own, rattling five goals past eternal rivals Manchester United on their home patch.

Manchester City also kept pace with a resounding 1-4 victory over a high flying Brighton as the three favourites for the title began to pull away from the rest of the pack.
We may only be nine games in, but this already promises to be an utterly enthralling title race.
