One moment in particular, caught on camera by a jovial fan, showed just how much of a day out it had become for Chelsea.

In the footage, Hakim Ziyech is seen toying with a Norwich defender, sending him this way and that before subtly applying the killer blow with a naughty touch.

As the defender in that situation, you just want the ground to swallow you whole. Among Chelsea fans however, the clip seems to be very popular and it is not hard to see why.

Saturday afternoon's mauling meant that Chelsea were guaranteed to end the weekend atop the Premier League but it certainly looks like it's going to be an almighty battle in the title race.

Liverpool's brutal response

That is because further north on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool had a party of their own, rattling five goals past eternal rivals Manchester United on their home patch.

It was chastening day for the Red Devils but the perfect response from Liverpool to Chelsea's Saturday madness.

Manchester City also kept pace with a resounding 1-4 victory over a high flying Brighton as the three favourites for the title began to pull away from the rest of the pack.

We may only be nine games in, but this already promises to be an utterly enthralling title race.
