Dana White is 'working on a fight' for Nate Diaz but it won't be against Tony Ferguson

Nate Diaz has one fight left on his current UFC deal.

Dana White said he is 'working on a fight' for Nate Diaz but it won't be against Tony Ferguson

The American, who is one of the biggest names in MMA, has one fight left with the UFC in his current deal and could test the market as a free agent.

White revealed he plans for Diaz to hopefully fight before the end of the year, but remained coy over his future.

“He’s got one more fight. We’re working on a fight for him,” White told a press conference in Las Vegas.

“Tony [Ferguson] wasn’t one of the guys we’re working on, but we’re working on a fight for Nate now. He’s got one fight left [on his contract]."

White has been vocal about his dealings with the Diaz brothers, most notably with Nate, 36.

The younger sibling is 20-13 in his career and recently dropped a decision to fellow UFC welterweight Leon Edwards, 30.

Nate Diaz has one fight remaining on his current deal

However, that doesn't mean fans should expect the UFC to part ways with Diaz anytime soon, especially considering the amount of eyeballs he brings to the sport.

In fact, Michael Bisping believes it's all just part of a negotiating strategy to remind Diaz just exactly who's boss.

"The UFC are very smart and, generally, someone like Nate Diaz isn't just going to get to fight out of his contract," he told his YouTube channel.

"This is just the way they operate. A lot of promotions, they all do it. You negotiate before the final fight of the contract so who knows?"

With that being said, Bisping admits he would absolutely love to see a boxing match between Diaz and Jake Paul

However, he feels Diaz will have to fight out of his contract in order to make that dream a reality.

"I don't think Dana would ever do a joint promotion with Jake Paul," he added.

"But I would love to see Nate Diaz versus Jake Paul.

"I think that would be a tremendous fight but it's not a case of that."
