The United States Grand Prix provided a thrilling finish on Sunday as Max Verstappen held off a hard-charging Lewis Hamilton to seal victory and extend his lead in the Drivers' standings.

A race that saw the two exchange the lead at the beginning of the Grand Prix, Verstappen was back in front after the first set of pit-stops and from there managed to bring the win home.

Who are the winners and losers from our latest visit to Austin, Texas, though? We take a look...

Winner - Max Verstappen

verstappen

Max brought the race win home in fabulous style under immense pressure from one of the sport's great names.

He dealt with Lewis' late charge with aplomb and converted his pole position into a really important victory, even if Hamilton did lead in the early stages.

He extends his championship lead, then, as we approach the final five races.

Loser- Mercedes

mercedes

Mercedes would have felt as though this was a race they could have won.

They were in good form and this track has favoured them in the past, but it wasn't their day on Sunday.

Red Bull had them covered, just about, on Sunday and the Silver Arrows will be itching to respond in Mexico.

Winner - Sergio Perez

sergio perez

Perez notched himself another podium finish with a strong drive.

He didn't quite have the pace to stick with the leading pair but he did everything he needed to to bag very good points for Red Bull.

He's in decent rhythm at the moment and will look forward to his home race in a fortnight.

Loser - McLaren

mclaren

Whilst Hamilton and Verstappen were battling it out at the front of the field, a few spots back Ferrari and McLaren were having a right scrap with all four cars involved in the fight in the opening stages.

Come the chequered flag, a four point swing went in the Scuderia's way for them to now be 3.5 points behind their old foes in the standings. This fight is every bit as entertaining as the one out in front.
