Anthony Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has denied claims that the former world champion has split from his coach Rob McCracken - despite reports to the contrary.

Rumours that Joshua could be looking for a change within his team began circulating after the Olympic gold medallist was spotted deep in conversation with Canelo Alvarez at Eddy Reynoso's gym in San Diego while on holiday in America.

Joshua, 31, lost his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO titles to Oleksandr Usyk on September 25, which was a major blow to his hopes of facing WBC champion Tyson Fury in an undisputed title fight.

It was reported that AJ visited a number of gyms during his trip to the States, leading to claims that McCracken, who has been in his corner since he fought Eric Molina in 2016, could be ushered out the door.

However, Hearn has dismissed those reports as pure 'speculation', adding that 'there's absolutely no definitive mindset or answer' either way.

“He [Joshua] went to see a number of gyms, fighters and trainers,” Hearn told iFL TV

“He hasn't split from Rob McCracken, he hasn't decided he's gonna join another trainer, I think he's just trying to learn.

“He’s trying to look at his setup, trying to look at ways to improve, and he’s working.

“He’s out there, putting the work in now every day getting ready for the rematch, and I've never seen him so focused for a fight, for a rematch.

"He just wants to get it 100 per cent right because he knows he must win this fight.

"It’s just a case of taking in information, but that wasn’t the reason for the trip.

"There's absolutely no definitive mindset or answer.”

Joshua, 31, said he will exercise his rematch clause against Usyk after being dethroned in a stunning upset, with the fight set to take place in March or April.

In the aftermath of the defeat, questions have been raised about Joshua's tactics on the night, with McCracken and his coaching methods receiving a fair share of the blame.

Referring to the various tabloid stories, Hearn, who represents Joshua, added: "It wasn’t, ‘I’m going to America to find a new trainer'.

"It was just, ‘I want some time away,' and he chilled out a little bit - he went to a couple of gyms.

"He went to see Canelo [Alvarez] to watch him spar, talk to him, met Eddy Reynoso.

"There was a number of gyms he went to, he saw [Jermall and Jermell] Charlo and Ronnie Shields."

He continued: “It wasn’t to go and meet different trainers. It had more to do with the setup of where he trains as well.

"Does he need a new environment to train in? Does he need a new energy?

"He was also training out there, he took a number of his training team with him, it's not like he was out there on his own.

"He’s making sure he’s in the position to win this fight, and he’ll leave no stone unturned.”

While Joshua has not commented on the split rumours he was active on social media on Saturday night as he revealed he is still smarting from his loss to Usyk.

Joshua shared a snap of a still black image to his official Snapchat account and wrote: "Still p*ssed about the fight.

"Ima [sic] take the bull by the horns n [sic] do everything in my power to get things right."
