Daryl Dike is destined to reunite with Valerien Ismael by joining West Bromwich Albion, according to Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

Dike played under Baggies head coach Ismael when he joined Barnsley on a temporary basis for the second half of last season.

What's the latest news involving Dike?

Dike, who is valued at £9million by Transfermarkt, returned to parent club Orlando City following the climax of the Championship season and has racked up seven Major League Soccer goals in 15 outings since.

But he was understood to be among the frontmen on Ismael's shortlist following his appointment as Sam Allardyce's successor at the Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old was also linked with a move to the Premier League thanks to his fine form at Oakwell and Stateside as Leeds United contemplated over whether to lodge a bid during the summer transfer window.

Orlando City will have been pleased that a switch failed to materialise as his goals have helped the Lions to sit comfortably inside Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference play-off places.

But their luck could be set to run out as GIVEMESPORT has been told that Dike, who has won eight international caps for the United States, features high among Ismael's list of targets as the reopening of the transfer window nears.

What has Luke Hatfield said about Dike?

Hatfield is almost certain that 6 ft 2 striker Dike will end up being reunited with Ismael at the Hawthorns.

Under Ismael's guidance, Dike found the back of the net nine times in 22 appearances for Barnsley.

His goals helped Barnsley to bag a place in last season's Championship play-offs, only to see their promotion hopes dashed by Swansea City at the semi-final stage.

Hatfield is excited by the prospect of Dike linking up with West Brom.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: "It seems a match made in heaven. It's just a matter of getting the stars to align to make it happen."

Why is Ismael looking to sign a new striker?

West Brom currently have four senior strikers - in the form of Callum Robinson, Jordan Hugill, Karlan Grant and Kenneth Zohore - on their books but the majority of them have failed to demonstrate a prolific vein of form.

Robinson has scored more goals for the Republic of Ireland - having found the back of the net five times during the recent international break - than the three he has bagged for West Brom this season.

Hugill's wait for a first Baggies goal since his season-long loan switch from Norwich City came to an end in the weekend win over Bristol City, while Grant netted for the seventh time this season in the same fixture.

Zohore has failed to get his name on the scoresheet but has found his opportunities limited.
