Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge doesn't reckon that Matt Doherty is the right fit at Tottenham and can't see him improving in north London.
The Republic of Ireland international was signed by Jose Mourinho for £14.7m in the summer of 2020 but is yet to show the kind of form that saw him flourish at right wing-back under Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves.
How has Doherty performed at Tottenham?
The defender arrived at Spurs on the back of two outstanding seasons with Wolves, scoring 15 goals and chipped in with 15 assists in 98 appearances across all competitions.
But that was in a more attacking wing-back role, whereas Doherty has been tasked with playing in a more unfamiliar right-back position at Tottenham.

Doherty would start six of the first eight league games last term but struggled to find his best form and would start just seven more times in the Premier League from then on, registering just two assists in 17 appearances.
He would end up playing second-fiddle to Serge Aurier for most of the campaign and even though the Ivorian was released in August, Doherty has found minutes difficult to come by.
In fact, even the versatile Japhet Tanganga has moved above him in the right-back pecking order, whilst summer signing Emerson Royal is now first-choice.

Doherty's only minutes in the league this season came as a late substitute at Manchester City on the opening day and Bridge can't see his situation at the club getting any better.
What did Bridge say?
He told GIVEMESPORT: "I don't like saying this about any player, but he just isn't the right fit at Tottenham. I don't see it; I just don't see him coming round to being in the team.
"Of course, I hope I'm wrong with that, I just don't see it, I just don't think he's done it."
Does Doherty have a future at Tottenham?
Right now, it's hard to see Doherty's position at the club improving any time soon.
He's essentially third-choice right-back at present and being behind even Tanganga, a 22-year-old, who started off as a centre-back, can't be doing his confidence any good.
Royal is not exactly pulling up any trees, but Doherty is some way off challenging for a Premier League spot and will have to impress when he is given a rare chance and show Nuno that he can still perform at this level.
