Oliver Bierhoff has urged Italian clubs to sign Manchester United and Arsenal target Mario Gotze.

The 19-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the finest young talents in Europe and, thus, has frequently been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund.

Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium have been touted as potential destinations for the German and Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger scour the markets for midfield reinforcements.

But, should United or Arsenal formalise their interest in Gotze, they are likely to face stiff competition in pursuit of his signautre.

Along with United and Arsenal, Bayern Munich have been linked with Gotze, as have Real Madrid.

However, former Germany star Bierhoff believes Gotze would be well suited to a switch to Serie A.

"I would suggest that Italian clubs look to sign Mario Gotze," said the former AC Milan striker.

"He’s still a very young player, but he has absolute talent.

"Whoever signs him would be completing a great piece of business. He’s only 19, but he can already be considered as world class."

Meanwhile, United are also said to be chasing Javi Martinez, while Jefferson Farfan is alleged to be on the Arsenal radar.
