Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga is hoping to complete his dream move to Newcastle United.
The Mali international was close to joining the Magpies in the summer, after threatening to go on strike while at the Ligue 1 side.
Reports had emerged that Maiga's move to Newcastle would be completed in the January transfer window, and the forward still has his eyes on a move to the north-east.
"All players dream of playing for a club like that and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer," he said.
Newcastle are yet to bring in a genuine replacement for Andy Carroll, who was sold last January, while they still have much of the £35 million recouped for the player having only splashed out on Yohan Cabaye and Gabriel Obertan during the summer.
Strike Demba Ba, signed on a free has already netted eight goals for Newcastle during an unbeaten start in the Barclays Premier League for Alan Pardew's men.
