Adesanya vs Whittaker

UPDATE 1st February 2022: Derek Brunson has given his take on the upcoming Middleweight Title fight between Adesanya and Whittaker.

Speaking to MMAJunkie, he said: “I can see Whittaker winning, but if I had to pick, I’d probably say ‘Izzy’ repeats and wins and keeps his title.

“I just want to beat both of those guys,” Brunson continued. “‘Izzy’ is more the guy with all the hype, and everybody sees him as unbeatable, so I’d like to go out there and finish a guy like ‘Izzy.'”

Date

UFC President Dana White confirmed that the fight card will be taking place on Saturday February 12th 2022.

The date was noted to Aaron Bronsteter during a conversation with the public face of the company in October 2021.

Bronsteter confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: "Just spoke to Dana White who tells me that UFC 271, expected to be headlined by Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whitaker is being targeted for either Seattle or a major Canadian city on February 12, 2022.

"Clarification: An error was made when Dana relayed this to me in our interview. Seattle and Canada are being looked at for an event in 2022, but not UFC 271."

UPDATE 18th December 2021: UFC 271 will be taking place from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

It was initially believed that the event would be taking place in either Seattle or a “major Canadian city” following comments from Dana White.
