Crystal Palace duo Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi have a bright future ahead of them after making an impressive start to the season, according to the Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

Both men have played an integral role as the Eagles have suffered just two Premier League defeats since the season got underway.

What is the latest news involving Gallagher and Guehi?

Patrick Vieira was appointed as Palace's manager in July, with the former France international tasked with building a youthful squad after a number of players were released following Roy Hodgson's exit.

Among those to arrive at Selhurst Park were 21-year-old duo Guehi and Gallagher, with both making the move from London neighbours Chelsea.

Guehi, who has been offered the chance to shine in the top flight after making 59 appearances while on loan with Swansea City, completed an £18million switch to the Eagles.

Gallagher also made the move from Stamford Bridge after agreeing to a season-long loan in order to gain more Premier League experience after spending last term with West Bromwich Albion.

Central defender Guehi has gone on to play every minute of Palace's season so far, while Gallagher has been an influential figure in the final third of the pitch by racking up two goals and an assist.

What has Tom Barclay said about the duo?

Barclay covers Crystal Palace and the England under-21s, so he has seen a lot of Gallagher and Guehi over the years.

The journalist believes the pair have improved greatly as they have progressed in the early stages of their respective careers.

He would not be surprised to see them go on to enjoy hugely successful careers.

Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: "They've both improved so much that it really speaks volumes for their work rate, how much they are liked by their coaches, how much they take things on and how much they listen, that they have just got better and better and better.

"If that rate of progress goes at the same rate, we're talking about top players in the future."

Have they been getting high praise from elsewhere?

Gallagher, who is valued at £13.5million by Transfermarkt, is clearly rated highly at Chelsea as the west Londoners tied him down to a five-year contract just 13 months ago.

He made close to 100 appearances for the Blues' under-18, under-19 and under-23 sides as he came through the club's academy.

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have hailed Gallagher for his performances since heading to Palace.

Guehi has also earned praise from the Palace faithful and England under-21s boss Lee Carsley believes heading to Selhurst Park will benefit the duo in their development.
