Darren Bent hopes Gabriel Agbonlahor can put his England heartache behind him and be fit in time to renew their Aston Villa partnership next Monday.
Agbonlahor was named in Fabio Capello's squad for the two friendlies with Spain and Sweden, but was forced to pull out due a troublesome hamstring injury.
However, it was testament to the understanding Agbonlahor a Bent have built up this season that both were called up by their country.
Both forwards have scored five times for Villa this season and have the makings of a potentially potent pairing.
And, although Bent was disappointed for his teammate, the former Sunderland hitman hopes England's loss can be Villa's gain.
"It is massively disappointing that Gabby had to pull out," said Bent.
"You see him week in and week out, he's been top drawer. He has been tremendous this season.
"Hopefully he will be back soon and will get another chance with England.
"I want him to be fit for Tottenham when we play them on Monday week."
