Paul Pogba wouldn’t have been happy at being left of Manchester United’s starting line-up to face Liverpool on Sunday.

The Frenchman was also a substitute for the visit of Atalanta in the Champions League last Wednesday.

However, the Frenchman was introduced in the 66th-minute with United still trailing 2-1 having been 2-0 down at half-time.

Pogba impressed as he inspired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to a stunning comeback to win the match 3-2.

However, the Norwegian surprised many by naming an unchanged starting XI against Liverpool despite their disastrous first half against Atalanta.

That meant, once again, Pogba was among the substitutes.

This time, however, he was called upon at half time with United already 4-0 down.

Five minutes later, it was 5-0 after Pogba had lost possession allowing Jordan Henderson to produce a stunning through ball for Salah to complete his hat-trick.

Pogba lasted just 10 minutes longer. That’s because he was shown a straight red card for a terrible tackle on Naby Keita.

Not quite the impact Solskjaer wanted from his midfielder.

But this wasn’t the first time Pogba had been sent off against Liverpool.

In fact, 10 years ago, he was dismissed at Anfield for taking the ‘world’s coolest penalty.’

During the 2010/11 FA Youth Cup campaign in which United won with the likes of Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison in their ranks, the Red Devils faced Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

United won the tie 3-2 but it didn’t end well for Pogba.

The Frenchman stepped up to take a penalty at the Kop End and, in his typical eccentric behaviour, decided to opt for a fake shot sending Liverpool goalkeeper Tyrell Belford to the ground before knocking it past him.

As the YouTube video title claims, it was the ‘world’s coolest penalty.’

However, his run-up was deemed unsportsmanlike and he was shown his second yellow card of the match and was ultimately dismissed.

Fortunately for United, they were allowed to retake the penalty and Larnell Cole made no mistake with a traditional attempt.

Morrison scored a bicycle kick to complete the victory for United.

So that’s two red cards Pogba has picked up against Liverpool in his career.

One for scoring a penalty and one for a two-footed lunge on Keita.

That’s Pogba for you. You never know what to expect.
