Norwich City are still capable of staving off an immediate return to the Championship despite suffering an embarrassing setback at the hands of Chelsea, according to journalist Stuart Hodge.

A Mason Mount hat-trick, along with efforts from Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and a Max Aarons own goal, condemned Norwich to a 7-0 thrashing at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

What's the latest news involving Norwich?

The future appeared to be bright at Carrow Road after boss Daniel Farke led the Canaries to a second Championship title in three seasons.

Farke also committed his future to the club by penning a new four-year contract ahead of Norwich's return to the top flight.

But the Canaries are still waiting to secure their first Premier League win of the season and have been condemned to seven defeats from nine outings.

Farke admitted Norwich were far from their best as they were put to the sword by league leaders Chelsea at the weekend.

Captain Grant Hanley went one step further, issuing the club's supporters with an apology after conceding seven unanswered goals against Thomas Tuchel's high-flying west Londoners.

What has Stuart Hodge said about Norwich?

Hodge sees no reason for the newly-promoted side to fear an immediate relegation to the Championship.

The journalist believes Farke is capable of turning the Canaries' fortunes around and leading them to safety despite an extensive winless start to life back in the Premier League.

He feels the goalless draw with Burnley, which allowed Norwich to secure their first point back in the top flight, should give the Canaries optimism.

Hodge told GIVEMESPORT: "If you can keep the solidity shown in recent weeks and start scoring some goals, they have a chance of staying up.

"I'm not worried. I still think Norwich City can stay up.

"After how they played in the Burnley game, I'm feeling that my prediction of them finishing in 15th or 16th is still more than doable."

What are Norwich's biggest concerns at the moment?

Norwich currently find themselves at the foot of the Premier League table and they have struggled defensively, with no other side conceding more goals than the Canaries so far this season.

Although they suffered the blow of talisman Emiliano Buendia departing in favour of a move to Aston Villa for a club-record fee during the summer, Farke spent £31.9million to bolster his squad.

The likes of Josh Sargent, Milot Rashica and Christos Tzolis were welcomed to Carrow Road in the hope that they would supply the goals needed to fend off relegation.

But Teemu Pukki remains the club's only goalscorer this term, having found the back of the net twice.
