Many Manchester United fans didn't hang around as their team fell to an embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.Footage showed plenty of home supporters leaving Old Trafford at half-time, having seen Jurgen Klopp's side put four goals past David de Gea by the break. The game was already over at this point and they didn't fancy hanging around to continue watching the humiliation.

Many Man Utd fans left early

talkSPORT spoke to a number of United supporters who exited early and they made their feelings clear.

"It’s embarrassing, it’s the worst display of football I’ve ever seen,” one fan said.

“It’s embarrassing. It’s really really embarrassing. I’ve never left early before, definitely never left at half-time before.

“I’m sorry, Ole needs to go. I love him to pieces, but as a manager he’s not the man."

“First time ever we’ve walked out of a football game at Man United. They are not even trying.”

The atmosphere became toxic

It was without doubt one of the worst defeats in United's recent history, and evidence of the toxic atmosphere inside the stadium became clear when footage emerged of Jesse Lingard, a substitute, receiving abuse from the home crowd.

It didn't take long after the game started for United supporters to become angry, with Liverpool storming into a 2-0 lead inside 13 minutes through goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.

And fan footage, taken from somebody in the Stretford End after Jota's goal, shows just how irate the home crowd was.

Jota converted Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross and we hear one fan reacting by saying: "We're f***ing embarrassing man!"

Another can be heard saying: "F***ing s**t."

Given the manner in which Liverpool carved the Red Devils open to establish an early lead, it's not surprising that United fans were furious.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now under mounting pressure to save his job, and it's going to take something special for him to win back the fans.
