Origi scores stunning goal

It was a brilliant piece of skill from the Belgian, who also scored in Liverpool's win against Norwich City in the previous round.

Liverpool go through

So the Reds will be in Saturday's quarter-final draw.

The EFL Cup isn't a priority for Klopp - that's been the case throughout his time on Merseyside - and he'll likely ring the changes again in the next round.

Klopp gave starts to youngsters Harvey Blair and Tyler Morton, both 18, for the trip to Deepdale.

Yet the Liverpool boss doesn't have any reason to doubt any starting line-up he chooses in the competition.

And with Manchester City crashing out at the hands of West Ham, he may just fancy his chances of going all the way.

Joining Liverpool and West Ham in the quarter-finals are Arsenal, Chelsea, Sunderland, Tottenham, Leicester City and Brentford.

Man City's dominance in the competition - they were hoping to make it five straight wins - came to an end on Wednesday evening when they were beaten by the Hammers in a penalty shootout.
