One of the most surprising stats in football is that Zinedine Zidane assisted just one Thierry Henry goal in 59 France appearances together.Henry is France’s all-time record goalscorer with 51 goals. Zidane, meanwhile, is arguably the greatest French footballer in history. It’s pretty remarkable, therefore, that the only time they combined for a France goal was against Brazil in the 2006 World Cup finals. However, the two legendary French stars combined beautifully for an audacious corner kick routine at Euro 2004.During the first half of a group match against Croatia, Henry took a corner from the left-hand side of the pitch and picked out Zidane, who was stood with his back to goal outside the six-yard box.Zidane, one of the most skillful and innovative footballers of all time, caught Croatia’s players off guard by producing an exquisite flick into the box.The ball fell perfectly to the onrushing William Gallas, who really should have scored with his close-range header.Had his timing been better, France would have scored and this would have been one of the best goals from a corner in football history.

What happened to France at Euro 2004?
France advanced to the Euro 2004 quarter-finals after finishing ahead of England at the top of Group B but spurned a glorious opportunity to reach the semis when they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Greece in Lisbon.
Greece, coached by German manager Otto Rehhagel, famously went all the way that summer.
The Euro 2004 underdogs defeated Czech Republic 1-0 after extra-time in the semi-finals before securing a 1-0 win over tournament hosts Portugal in the final.
