Georginio Wijnaldum’s move to Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t exactly gone to plan.
Wijnaldum left Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer to join the French giants. Joining him at the Parc des Princes was a certain Lionel Messi as well as Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Danilo and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
But the Dutchman has only played a full 90 minutes on two occasions this season and has struggled for form.
PSG have won nine of their 11 league matches this season and sit seven points clear. They also sit top of their Champions League group ahead of Manchester City.
But you wouldn’t blame Wijnaldum for casting an envious eye to his former club, Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are suffering a bit of an injury crisis in midfield with Thiago, Fabinho, James Milner, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita all suffering from problems in recent weeks.
Despite that, the Reds are flying are they sit one point behind league leaders Chelsea and are in control of their Champions League group.
And a recent report from French outlet, L’Equipe suggests Wijnaldum could well be regretting his move to Paris.
They claim that the South American players at the club have been unsupportive of Wijnaldum because they’re worried he would compete with Leandro Paredes.
Really?
It seems like very childish behaviour to have as professional footballers.
So, who could the report be alluding to?
Well, Messi is South American. In fact, he’s Argentinean like Paredes. So too is Brazilian Neymar. Then there’s Argentines Mauro Icardi and Angel di Maria as well as Marquinhos and Rafinha from Brazil.
Recently, Wijnaldum spoke about his life at PSG and admitted it hasn't been an easy start.
He told Dutch news outlet NOS, via GOAL: "I can't say I'm completely happy, because the situation is not what I wanted.
"But that's football and I'll have to learn to deal with that. I'm a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to turn it around.

"I have played a lot in recent years, was always fit and also did very well. This is something different and that takes getting used to.
"I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult."
