Lionel Messi is the favourite to win the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
The winner of the coveted accolade is officially announced on November 29th in Paris and the general consensus is that the Argentine will scoop the award for a record seventh time.
Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are certainly in with a shout of victory, but it would still be a surprise if either of the two world-class strikers lifted the gorgeous golden football in the French capital.
Messi triumphed in the voting the last time the Ballon d’Or ceremony was held back in 2019, the 34-year-old pipping Liverpool‘s Virgil van Dijk to top spot.

Messi’s first international conquest is the primary reason why he’s the overwhelming favourite to win the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
But as we previously mentioned, he’s not the only horse in with a chance of winning the race this year…
