The winner of the coveted accolade is officially announced on November 29th in Paris and the general consensus is that the Argentine will scoop the award for a record seventh time.

Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema are certainly in with a shout of victory, but it would still be a surprise if either of the two world-class strikers lifted the gorgeous golden football in the French capital.

Messi triumphed in the voting the last time the Ballon d'Or ceremony was held back in 2019, the 34-year-old pipping Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk to top spot.

It was a historic evening for the little maestro and his son, Mateo, reacted to his father's victory in adorable fashion.
