Harry Maguire has been heavily criticised for his performance in Manchester United's 5-0 thumping at the hands of Liverpool.

The England international was at fault for a number of the Reds' goals on the day and looked more like a Sunday League player than the captain at one of the world's biggest clubs.

Maguire's displays throughout the 2021/22 season have been nothing short of abysmal, particularly when you consider how good he was at Euro 2020 over the summer.

If he can't find form sooner rather than later, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - or whoever the United manager is - will have to consider dropping him from the starting XI.

That's how bad things have got and Maguire isn't exactly improving the situation with his questionable comments in the build-up to Saturday's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Man Utd's defensive stats

Yes, you're reading that correctly, a team that were labelled 'Premier League title challengers' before a ball was kicked this season are dead last when it comes to tackles.

United have also committed the most errors leading to shots, which won't surprise anyone who's watched the Red Devils in action on a regular basis in 2021/22.

It's simple, if the team don't improve defensively from the Tottenham game onwards, Champions League qualification will be a struggle and Solskjaer will be out of a job in no time.

Maybe it's time to start having a glance at the stats in order to achieve more positive on-pitch results, guys...
