UFC star Khamzat Chimaev admits Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington are 'tough guys' - but they're 'nothing special'.

Usman and Covington will meet in a rematch for his welterweight title next week in Las Vegas, some two years after they first met at UFC 245 in December 2019.

'The Nigerian Nightmare', 34, outlasted his bitter rival in a thrilling back-and-forth war, before finishing him in the fifth round to be declared the winner by technical knockout.

But Chimaev isn't expecting anything out of the ordinary - if anything, the opposite.

“Maybe it’ll go to a decision, maybe someone will get a knockout, both guys tough guys but nothing special,” Chimaev told UFC Arabia (h/t MMA Junkie).

“Same thing, both wrestlers and a little bit striking.”

Chimaev, 27, is set to first face Li Jingliang on Saturday night at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi.

But he will be keeping a close eye on next week's main event when the two face off for the second time.

“I hope so, but this guy is – how old is he? Like 35?,” he said when asked if he would like to fight Usman in the future.

“He doesn’t have so much time now, but I’m coming for him before he goes.”

The 27-year-old Chechnya-born fighter has won his first three fights in the UFC, all by way of stoppage, including wins over Gerald Meerschaert, Rhys McKee, and John Phillips.

He then continued: “I will be best fighter in this game and when I finish I want to be remembered like best fighter in this world, pound-for-pound No. 1 and take the belt.

"As many as possible, maybe two, maybe three.”
