Journalist Liam Kennedy reckons that Newcastle could test the waters of Barcelona and try to sign Phillipe Coutinho in the coming windows.
The Brazilian was once one of the top players in the Premier League but has lost his way since making the £142m switch to the Nou Camp in January 2018.
How has Coutinho performed at Barcelona?
In the four years since the attacking midfielder left England, he's won two La Liga titles, the Bundesliga, and the Champions League with Bayern Munich, but it wouldn't be unfair to say that he's generally failed to live up to expectations since he left Liverpool.

Coutinho, who's only recently returned from a seven-month spell on the sidelines, has shown glimpses of his quality, but injuries and a loss of form have prevented the 29-year-old from playing his best football in Spain.
His overall record at Barcelona stands at 24 goals and 14 assists in 100 appearances, which is still decent going, although helped by the fact he's played with the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi for the majority of his time in La Liga.
Now, with under two years left on his contract and Barcelona in a tough financial situation, which could lead to a cheaper departure, Kennedy reckons that Newcastle could target a move for the former Reds man.

What did Kennedy say?
He told GIVEMESPORT: "I could see them sniffing around Barcelona and saying, 'can we maybe rejuvenate the career of Coutinho' and do something with these type of players, who've got obvious quality, but have maybe not quite developed and their careers haven't gone the way they thought they would."
Would Coutinho sign for Newcastle?
Last summer, the Daily Mail revealed that Coutinho's agent had said the Brazil international would be 'open' to a return to the Premier League.
But right now, considering his last three clubs have been Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, a switch to St James' Park would be a huge drop in quality for the player, despite the extraordinary wages that he would be paid by the new owners.
Following a difficult few years in Spain, it's clear to see that Coutinho needs a fresh start and moving back to a league he knows well does make sense, although there could be other Premier League clubs that have something to say about that before letting him move to the North East.
