Crystal Palace latest news: "So harsh" - Fresh claim emerges involving Patrick Vieira

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has had very little luck since arriving at the club, according to The Sun’s Tom Barclay.

Vieira replaced Roy Hodgson in the dugout at Selhurst Park in July, and has found wins hard to come by in the opening two-and-a-half months of the season.

What is Palace’s record so far this season?

It has been a season of near-misses for Palace so far. The Eagles have picked up just one win from their nine top-flight matches, which came against Tottenham last month.

They have also been held to six draws, but it could have been very different. In recent weeks, Palace have found themselves in winning positions against Brighton, Arsenal and Newcastle, but they have not been able to hold on for all three points in any of those games.

As a result, the south London club are stuck on nine points, which leaves them down in 15th place.

What has Barclay said about Vieira’s Palace?

Barclay has suggested that Palace’s points total is not a fair reflection of how they have performed this season, and has claimed that they could have been much higher up the table if they’d had more luck on their side.

Speaking about Vieira’s start at Palace, he told GIVEMESPORT: “The fact that he’s only won one game seems so harsh on him, because I was at the Brighton game, they definitely deserved the win there. A moment of brilliance/mistake at the back to allow the chance to come about.

“And the same thing with the Arsenal game, it was just some pretty rotten luck. I’d be more concerned about the Newcastle performance I suppose, the fact they couldn’t see them off. I know Steve Bruce has left, but they were there for the taking and they couldn’t.

“But again, they had a goal ruled out which a lot of people might think should have stood, so it just feels like he’s getting a lot of back luck.”

Will Palace’s luck turn soon?

Vieira will certainly hope so.

Palace face a very difficult task this weekend when they travel to face Premier League champions Manchester City.

However, their four games after that come against sides who are currently in the bottom half. These are the matches that Vieira’s men will have to start winning if they are to ease away from the bottom three, and if they can get some luck on their side, that may be all they need to get over the line.
