We may not be getting another Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier fight for a while (or maybe ever), but the duo's rivalry is still one of the most iconic in UFC history.

Most recently, the American claimed a second consecutive win over the Irishman in their trilogy bout in July via a TKO (doctor stoppage). After stepping back to avoid a punch, McGregor's leg completely gave way from underneath him, breaking in the process and leaving the ref and the doctors with no choice but to call off the fight.

This happened in just the first round.

The Diamond also claimed victory seven months prior at UFC 257 via stoppage in round two, avenging his defeat to McGregor back in September 2014.

While Poirier may be the main man today, what McGregor told him before knocking him out at UFC 178 will forever remain iconic.

In the build-up to the fight, McGregor predicted a first-round knockout in his favour, and boy did he deliver.

According to talkSPORT, McGregor told his opponent: "What you got p****?! Is that all you got p****?!”

What then followed was a double jab and a devastating left hand, which ultimately resulted in a sensational knockout for the ages.

With Poirier now set to fight Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 on December 11, McGregor is continuing his recovery following the injury he sustained earlier this year.

Poirier is a former interim UFC lightweight title holder, but is now gunning for that belt ahead of a mouthwatering clash with Oliveira, who won the vacant title in May of this year following a second-round TKO against Michael Chandler.

As for the Notorious, only time will tell whether he will get up to the similar trash-talking antics that the world saw at UFC 178.
