Liverpool plot 'cut-price' French international deal - reports

Liverpool are being linked with a January move for French international defender Aly Cissokho.

The Lyon full back was heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, although Kenny Dalglish eventually opted for Spanish defender Jose Enrique in August.

However, the 24-year-old's versatility makes Cissokho an appealing option for 'King Kenny', and The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool are hoping to negotiate a 'cut-price' deal for the player.

With the Ligue 1 outfit looking to resolve their financial situation at the Stade de Gerland, it's claimed that the Reds may be able to land the former Porto defender for a fee in the region of £6 million.

Liverpool spent big back in January with the additions of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, and followed that up with some high-profile signings during the summer with Enrique, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson four of their signings.

Dalglish has since admitted that the pressure is still on from owners FSG to make more signings on Merseyside, which means Liverpool are again expected to be one of the busier clubs in the opening month of the New Year, with Cissokho now high on the agenda.
