Donny van de Beek: Video shows Man Utd midfielder was 'used as a coach' before Tottenham win

It has been reported that Donny van de Beek has hired a new agent in an attempt to secure a move away from Manchester United.

Things are really that bad for the midfielder right now.

The Daily Mail‘s report into Van de Beek’s current situation claims that the 24-year-old has ditched Guido Albers and enlisted the help of Ali Dursun, who also represents Victor Lindelof, to help him get out of Manchester.

Van de Beek only arrived in the summer of 2020 but his spell at Old Trafford has been nothing short of miserable.

He’s made just four starts in the Premier League and this season has barely been used, despite United appearing at times to need something different in midfield.

“Why’s Donny van de Beek not being given a chance?” Gary Neville recently asked, per the Metro.

“There’s something about that. He’s not been given a chance for 18 months so you’ve got to come to the conclusion that Ole didn’t sign him or he doesn’t fancy him.”

Van de Beek ‘used like a coach’

The former Ajax man could leave in January, and evidence of just how little he matters to United emerged ahead of the club’s 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

A clip shows Van de Beek being used as a setter in a shooting drill, simply being used to tee up his teammates before they attempted shots on goal.

The Netherlands international had been warming up with the substitutes, but he left them to help the starters.

The fan who recorded the video is clearly frustrated, saying Van de Beek is just being used as a coach.

Man United fans react

Plenty of Man United fans believe Van de Beek is being treated poorly.

Reacting to the video, one wrote: “I don’t think we ever treated players this bad before. It’s disgusting and humiliating for him.

“I can understand if he is a lousy player and gets dropped, but Fred gets so many chances and drives me mad every game.

“Van de Beek could’ve achieved so much at Ajax. Why did we even buy him?”

It’s a thought that must pass through Van de Beek’s mind with each match he spends on the bench.
