Doudrop has explained that she didn't think her new name would stick around beyond her partnership with Eva Marie, and has revealed her initial reaction to the name.

WWE brought Piper Niven from NXT UK up to the main roster in June, renaming her as Doudrop in the process.

The name change didn't go down well with fans, and Doudrop has now revealed, in an exclusive interview with GiveMeSport, what she thought about her new name.

The 30-year-old told Louis Dangoor that she wasn't initially too keen on her name, but has since grown to love it.

At first when they say 'oh, do you know what your new name is gonna be?' I was like 'what new name?'. Loads of people didn't want to tell me, and I can't remember who it was that it finally ended up telling me, but they were like 'your name is gonna Doudrop'. and I was kinda like 'Okay.... sure. (hesitant)' Um, but honestly, like, I get it. I'm not playing Piper anymore. Don't get me wrong, there's totally parts of my personality from her that bleed into Doudrop and stuff. I kind of like it because it was like taking a negative and turning it into a positive, and I feel like that's very on brand for me, you know? People in the past in my career have always like kind of maybe made jokes my size, and said 'you can't do this, you can't do that', but really I'm here now succeeding because of those negatives. And so I kind of like that I've turned it around and made a cute little thing.

The name was, at least in storyline, given to Doudrop by Eva Marie, and many people thought that the story would have concluded with Doudrop turning on Eva and reverting back to her old name.

Interestingly, Doudrop also told GiveMeSport that she was under the impression that the name would not be sticking around beyond her Eva Marie partnership, saying:

So my belief was that it was a temporary thing and I was like 'okay, right okay, cool. I can get behind this'.

Doudrop is set to take part in WWE's tour of the UK, which kicks off next week. You can find out more information and purchase tickets for the show by clicking here.
