Newcastle transfer news: 51-goal star 'exactly the profile of player Magpies will target'

Journalist Liam Kennedy reckons that Dele Alli is exactly the type of player that Newcastle will be looking to sign in the next few windows.

According to the Telegraph, the Magpies are expected to have £190m to spend in January as a new era begins on Tyneside following the recent takeover.

What's the latest news with Alli?

The Tottenham midfielder, who has 51 Premier League goals to his name, looked to have turned his career around after a lease of new life under Nuno Espirito Santo, which included him scoring the winning goal at Wolves.

However, the 25-year-old hasn't played a minute in the Premier League since he was hauled off at half-time in the north London derby on 26 September.

Alli's only outings since the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal have come in Europe, although with the midfielder far from his best against Vitesse Arnhem, he was dropped from the squad for the Carabao Cup win over Burnley, which appears to have thrown his Spurs career into further doubt.

He was once one of the most promising talents in English football and a regular starter for the Three Lions.

But Alli is now fighting to save his career from falling away and Kennedy reckons that a move to St James' Park could rejuvenate him.

What did Kennedy say?

When asked whether he believes that Alli would be a name that would appeal to Newcastle, he told GIVEMESPORT: "He's exactly the profile of player they'll be targeting in the first couple of windows."

Is Alli the type of player Newcastle will be looking to sign?

Several names are likely to be thrown Newcastle's way given they're now the richest club in world football.

But Alli is one that makes sense for both parties. Firstly, Alli needs a fresh challenge in hope that he can get back to the form that saw him named as PFA Young Player of the Year in consecutive seasons, whilst he's exactly the type of profile that could take the Magpies to the next level.

Alli's form has been poor in recent seasons, but he showed during the early Jose Mourinho days that a confident Dele Alli is a dangerous one.

If Newcastle could get the best out of him, he could be quite some coup.
