Journalist Luke Hatfield has suggested that Wolves are likely to be interested in signing Hee-chan Hwang on a permanent deal next summer.

Hwang has made a lightning-fast start to his Premier League career at Molineux, quickly establishing himself as a fans' favourite.

What is Hwang's contract situation at Wolves?

The 25-year-old arrived in the Midlands in the final week of August on a season-long loan from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Wolves have an option to buy Hwang when his loan spell ends, and they may want to explore this opportunity given how well he has settled in at the club.

In his six Premier League appearances to date, he has found the net on four occasions, including in his most recent outing against Leeds.

What has Hatfield said about Wolves potentially signing Hwang permanently?

Hatfield has pointed out that Wolves previously signed Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez on loan, before wrapping up permanent deals for the duo further down the line.

He has claimed that the club may go down a similar route to keep Hwang beyond next summer as well.

Speaking about Wolves previously turning loan moves into permanent ones, Hatfield told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve done that before; Jota was one case. Jimenez, they obviously had him on loan before signing him on a permanent basis. So, it’s a tactic that they’ve worked in terms of recruitment before, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they were to tie up some sort of permanent deal for him again.”

Should Wolves sign Hwang permanently?

The South Korean international has taken the Premier League by storm, and if he continues to fire in the goals over the coming months, Wolves should do all they can to convince him to stay.

Transfermarkt value Hwang at £9.9m, and, based on his current form, that would be a bargain price for the attacker from Wolves' perspective.

Then again, it would be wise for the English side to not get ahead of themselves. Hwang is still in the early stages of his time at Wolves, and it remains to be seen as to whether he can maintain his current level, or if he is simply experiencing a purple patch at the moment.

If it is the latter, then Wolves would be best off biding their time, and making a decision on whether to try to keep him or not closer to the end of the season.
