Arsenal latest news: £25.2m Gunners star has taken unique path after big summer decision

Journalist Luke Hatfield has praised Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe for remaining loyal to the club this summer.

The 21-year-old has come through Arsenal’s academy, but there were doubts about his future at the club during the recent transfer window.

What happened with Smith Rowe in the summer?

In the most recent transfer window, Smith Rowe entered the final two years of his contract at Arsenal, and fellow Premier League club Aston Villa showed significant interest in tempting him away from north London.

The Midlands club made multiple offers for Smith Rowe, but they were turned down by the Gunners.

The young forward, who is rated at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, finally put Arsenal supporters’ minds at rest when he made the big decision to sign a new deal in late July. He is now set to remain at the club until 2026.

What has Hatfield said about Smith Rowe?

Hatfield is impressed by the commitment that Smith Rowe has shown to Arsenal, admitting that players do not tend to remain loyal to one team in modern football.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “For Smith Rowe, who’s been a boyhood player who’s grown through the Arsenal ranks, I think I saw a quote attributed to him saying that he wanted to stick around at Arsenal, and obviously become a major part of that club, which he already is but obviously he wants to continue.

“Fair play to him for doing that because there aren’t many players who tend to stick around at one club for too long nowadays.”

How long will Smith Rowe stay at Arsenal?

Smith Rowe made a big commitment in the summer when he signed a new contract, and it seems that he has his mind set on helping Arsenal get back into Europe.

His recent performance against Villa, when he scored a goal and provided an assist showed that he is going from strength to strength, and if he can continue to play a starring role in winning displays for Arsenal, there will be very little reason for him to move away.

However, Arsenal have only finished eighth in their last two campaigns, and if they don’t improve on that soon, then he may have to start considering his future, and whether or not he can achieve all of his ambitions with Mikel Arteta’s men.
