Arsenal latest news: Invincibles legend 'has the presence' to become future Gunners boss

Arsenal's home ground, the Emirates Stadium

The Sun’s Tom Barclay thinks Patrick Vieira has the necessary characteristics to be a future Arsenal manager.

Vieira spent nine years at Arsenal as a player, and Barclay has suggested that he could return to the club in the future.

What’s the latest news involving Vieira?

Vieira is currently in the dugout at another London club, as he is in charge of Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

Despite their lack of wins so far this season, Palace have largely impressed under Vieira with their front foot style of play.

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has liked what he’s seen from Vieira as a manager, and earlier this month he told talkSPORT that he is “100%” sure the Frenchman will end up back at Arsenal at some point.

What has Barclay said about Vieira potentially managing Arsenal?

When asked about Bent’s comments, Barclay hinted that he agreed with the ex-England international by claiming that Vieira has certain attributes that would make him a good option for the Gunners further down the line.

Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s got the presence about him and the way he speaks, and the way he carries himself.”

Would Vieira be a good managerial appointment for Arsenal in the future?

Right now, it is perhaps a little too early to say. Vieira is only 10 games into his career as a Premier League manager, so he still needs to prove himself at the highest level.

Furthermore, we have seen in recent times that bringing in a club legend as manager does not always work out well.

Another iconic midfielder, Frank Lampard, was handed the manager’s position at Chelsea, but he lasted just 18 months in the role, before he was replaced by Thomas Tuchel back in January.

Who was the most expensive Arsenal signing of 2021?

At the moment, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is coming under pressure at Manchester United, with his team delivering below-par performances and having not won any silverware during his reign.

Arsenal will be aware that they could face a similar scenario with Vieira if they bring him in and things don’t go to plan.

However, it is difficult to criticise Vieira for the work he has done at Palace so far, and if he can continue to get his side playing entertaining football and moving higher up the table, he could be a candidate to take charge of Arsenal in a few years’ time.
