Teenager Lamare Bogarde is "highly-regarded" at Aston Villa and could be rewarded with a new contract, according to BirminghamLive journalist Ashley Preece.

Bogarde's promising development resulted in him being rewarded with a place in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time as Villa overcame Manchester United last month.

What do we know about Bogarde?

Bogarde joined Villa from Eredivisie side Feyenoord 13 months ago, with academy manager Mark Harrison insisting the 17-year-old has immense potential.

The Dutchman, who can play at the heart of the back four or in defensive midfield, made his senior debut in Villa's FA Cup third round defeat to Liverpool in January.

Bogarde was rewarded a matter of days later, with him penning a professional contract for the first time.

His maiden season in English football ended with Bogarde playing a key role as Villa won the FA Youth Cup for the first time since 2002.

Bogarde has gone on to make 12 appearances in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy since the current campaign got underway.

He also gained recognition for his performance in the 4-2 EFL Trophy victory over Burton Albion earlier this month.

The teen was an unused substitute at Barrow and as Villa crashed out of the Carabao Cup at Chelsea last month, but it allowed him to mix with the club's senior stars.

What has Ashley Preece said about Bogarde?

Preece believes Bogarde could be in line for a fresh deal as he is seen as a star of the future thanks to his hard work behind the scenes at Bodymoor Heath.

When asked whether Bogarde is highly thought of at Villa, the journalist told GIVEMESPORT: "100%. Bogarde is part of the travelling group now and he was on the bench for the first time in the Premier League at Manchester United last month.

"They think highly of Bogarde. He is an FA Youth Cup winner and they got him from Feyenoord last summer.

"He had a really good season and can play centre-half or central midfield. He turns 18 in January so I think Villa could have conversations over extending his stay.

"He is highly-regarded and is part of the first team group now."

Is Bogarde highly regarded away from Villa Park?

Bogarde had already made 19 appearances for Feyenoord's under-17s prior to his switch to English football, with him showing his attacking intent by scoring two goals and grabbing four assists despite his key role primarily being to keep the ball out of the net.

He has also represented his country at various age levels, with Bogarde winning three caps for the Netherlands' under-15s.

Bogarde has since gone on to represent the Netherlands' under-16s and under-18s twice apiece, skippering the latter against Austria earlier this month.
