Zlatan Ibrahimovic: AC Milan striker produces legendary performance vs Roma

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 40-years-old but he’s showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.

The Swede is still playing at the very highest level as he competes for the Serie A title with AC Milan while also playing in the Champions League.

And he proved he’s still very much got it during Roma vs AC Milan on Sunday night.

After Napoli had narrowly beaten Salernitana earlier in the day, Milan knew they had to win to stay level on points with them at the top of the table.

And they did just that, thanks to Zlatan.

The Swede opened the scoring in the first half thanks to a brilliantly struck free-kick.

It was his 400th league goal of his career and his 150th in Serie A.

However, before the game restarted, Zlatan was shown a yellow card.

The home fans turned to abusing the goalscorer, chanting “Sei uno zingaro (you are a gypsy)” to Ibrahimovic. He responded by waving his arms and telling them to sing louder. It earned him a booking.

Roma fans should have known not to wind up the forward because he was far from finished.

Later in the first half, he almost registered an outrageous chested assist for Rafael Leão only for it be ruled out for offside.

Zlatan was curtain VAR again shortly after half-time as he saw his goal disallowed for offside yet again. However, shortly afterwards, he was fouled by Roger Ibanez inside the penalty area, allowing Franck Kessie to put Milan 2-0 ahead.

Ibrahimovic’s night was done as the veteran was substituted for Olivier Giroud on the hour mark.

What a night for him.

Theo Hernandez was sent off for the away side shortly afterwards but they help on for all three points despite Stephan El Shaarawy scoring a late goal against his former side.

Enjoy Zlatan while he lasts because, surely, he won’t be around for too much longer.

Although if Saturday night’s performance is anything to go by, he still has plenty left in the tank.
